The Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium on International Motor Racing History was held at Watkins Glen International on Nov. 3rd and 4th. The keynote speaker was Rob Dyson, who presented “A Driver’s Reflections on Watkins Glen at 75.” An appreciative crowd gathered to listen and we’re so grateful Mr. Dyson made the trip to Watkins Glen to join us.
This year, the event had notable presentations from two faculty and one student from McPherson College in Kansas, known internationally for its top-notch automobile restoration program and academic focus on motorsports history and archival management. Ken Yohn, chair of the history and politics department, Kristie Sojka, the director of library services at Miller Library McPherson College, and Jeremy Porter, a senior studying automotive restoration and technology, gave three unique presentations from their perspectives on “Teaching Motorsports History at McPherson College.” The IMRRC is looking forward to future collaboration with McPherson!
Many thanks to our partners for this year’s symposium: The Society of Automotive Historians, the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce, and Gran Touring Motorsports. Gran Touring Motorsports live-streamed the entire Symposium and have made every presentation available on the GTM website.
