The archives of National Speed Sport News, the nation’s leading motorsports newspaper, were donated to the International Motor Racing Research Center in August 2011. Since then, Center researchers have used the NSSN archives for almost every project, making the National Speed Sport News archives the Center’s “go-to” source.
The archives comprise 97 bound volumes of issues going back to the 1930s; 30 boxes of photographs back to the 1950s; and issues from the 1930s through the early 2000s on microfilm. The collection also includes negatives of photographs taken by NSSN’s legendary editor and publisher, Chris Economaki, recognized as the founding father of the American motorsports media.
The archives were donated by Corinne Economaki, then-president and owner of National Speed Sport News, and the Dyson Foundation.
NSSN published its final print edition on March 23, 2011, after nearly 77 years of reporting for race fans.
